Joy K. Moraga Mom

As a retired educator Lisa will work for academic excellence with curriculum transparency and parental involvement.  She believes in science based reading, and increased campus security. I have seen less emphasis on reading with my younger children as compared to my graduated child. Reading, writing, spelling skills and the love of learning must be protected. The legacy of high academic performance is changing as class time is divided between social agendas and coursework.  I don't appreciate the idea that late assignments receive half credit.  I don't appreciate hearing that some students have privilege and others have obstacles and oppression. We left a country with oppression. We believe opportunity for all is here for those who will work for it.

Lisa M Moraga Mom

Lisa is the only candidate standing up against the total overreach of the schools. Learning is no longer about reading, writing, math, ..... Classic novels have been replaced with best sellers and online opinion articles.  Classes have become ideological and politically one-sided. Every lesson has been infused with fear of systemic racism and promotes a victim class mentality. Every month must now celebrate another minority group, remind students of suicide prevention hotlines but never celebrate anything traditionally American.

Gay, trans, non-binary students are seen as brave and special because of their sexual identity not their accomplishment, while the student body recognizes their right to choose their identity.. Any male in sports is assumed to be toxic and in need of re-education. Student DEI leaders reach out to them to get them on board with their DEI agenda while using their DEI leadership experiences to pad their college applications.

Academy classes were hijacked for monthly DEI lessons, not used for teachers to help students as the academy classes were designed.

There is no reason for students to be turned into mini-activists during the instructional day.  Student academic instruction and progress is sacrificed again.

Parents have been kept in the dark for some time now.  Zoom classes woke us up.

No other candidate is willing to take on the culture of wokeness.  I trust Lisa to ask the hard questions, fund academics, and give parent's rights the importance they deserve .

Edan W. Walnut Creek Dad

Lisa stands simply and firmly for common sense, uncontroversial positions, such as "racial and sexual ideologies have no place in a child's public education", and "parents deserve complete transparency in what and how their children are being taught."

The fact that some view these positions as wrong or dangerous demonstrates how sorely we need people like her on the board.

The well-being of children and their relationships with their parents is simply too important to sacrifice upon sociopolitical and ideological issues playing as central a role as they sadly do today.

Parents might want to consider that the dollars spent on the sociopolitical hiring, programs, consultants, and materials take away from the monies available for  student learning needs.

"As a retired educator Lisa will work for academic excellence , rigor, curriculum transparency and parental involvement.  She believes in science based reading, and increased campus  and classroom security.  We must do better for all students.

Lisa will help our students and parents receive the quality instruction so important to our young citizens. She has shown excellent commitment, curiosity and flexibility  serving  students from TK to high school across Contra Costa County.  She is an asset parents and the public would be wise to elect.

As a mother whose own children were not receiving a quality public education she moved her children at great expense to give them the opportunities all children deserve from public education.

Parents should not have to move. Every school should be safe, academically strong with every child's needs served without question.  Let the money support the child, the teachers, not the administration and agendas.

Tina M. Walnut Creek Mom

I support Lisa on the County School Board for our area.  Her years of experience with so many aspects of education will benefit all our students.  We need more attention on teaching and learning and not politics.

Linda M. Orinda Mom

Lisa has my support for the Contra Costa County Board of Education.

Having a child that says she is trans is completely debilitating.

I fear she will move further into drug dependency, mutilating surgery and irreversible sterilization because of all the positive attention she's getting.

It's maddening to have total strangers and once trusted school staff affirm a made-up name and pronouns because she wants them. None of these people will be in our lives in a few years. The consequences of her choices will forever impact her life and our family. The school is encouraging students to make major life decisions, potentially irreversible,  based on feelings, social anxiety, trauma, and the search for relief. This is not what schools should be about.

As a Mom it's exhausting to argue with a science teacher who teaches lies in health class and not science to students. Telling lies to suffering gender dysphoric students about becoming the imagined gender that this student has placed so much hope in is cruel. It's cruel to shower suffering students with empty praise for denying their own reality because they confirm your values. No human, no mammal has ever become the opposite sex nor changed into a different species. Why are students who self-identify as kittens, meow, wear cat collars celebrated as brave and heroic? Where will self-identification stop?

Those parents who have not lived with their child suffering severe anxiety, debilitating depression and destructive behaviors have no idea what families like ours go through yet they criticize us for rejecting popular trends.  We are confident our love, our strength for our daughter, and will result in her coming through her pain and accept herself for the young woman she is.  She like everyone of us deserves a future based on reality, biological truth not hormones and drugs for a lifetime. She deserves to become a mother one day if she so chooses.  We will not let her destroy her future because others have rejected reality.

Mary C. Concord Mom and Grandma

Thanks for running Lisa.  I know you will do a great job caring for all the students of our county.  I am so concerned my grandchildren are being told about things our family does not believe. We just want them to be great students, and keep our values and our faith.  This grandma wants our schools to get back to teaching not preaching at our children.

Christine B.  Walnut Creek teacher.

It is wonderful to see you running for the County school board.  You have done so much for children and parents over the years !  I support you and your vision of getting our schools to focus on teaching, learning, student growth and more student services.  There are many teachers like me who want to teach more reading, writing and math, but are forced to participate in teaching about controversial values.   Thanks for running.

Larry Sands teacher, education researcher, CTEN.org

Thanks for throwing your hat into the ring Lisa.  As a teacher and  president of California Teachers Empowerment Network, a non-partisan, non-political group dedicated to providing teachers with reliable and balanced information on educational issues I endorse your campaign. Faulty information undermines excellence and proficiency in student learning. People can read my comments and op-eds on The Wall Street Journal, Real Clear Politics, Newsweek, and Los Angeles Times.  It's time to examine the common myths of education.

Mala W. Walnut Creek teacher

This is awesome Lisa.  As a teacher with a Masters  degree in Chemistry I appreciate your strong pro-education views.  Sadly, I have witnessed the deterioration of our science, math, critical thinking skills and work ethic in our students. Assignments that students have completed for years and years now are extremely difficult for this population of high school students. It's time we focus on teaching math proficiency , critical thinking, and  how to be held accountable for their weak study habits.  Their adult lives need strong academic foundations. Count me in as another teacher who wants to teach and not engage in political influences and pressures to conform to the school districts values.  I have may own values, thank you!
